BlueTech Research Company Snapshot

ROTEC (Reverse Osmosis Technologies) Ltd.

Technology Offering

Flow Reversal Reverse Osmosis (FRRO)

What is it?

ROTEC's FRRO manages scaling deposits on RO membrane by switching of feedwater flow direction. FRRO makes use of the fact that in RO processes, the end of a module is most prone to scaling as the brine becomes supersaturated and precipitates. In FRRO, scaling is prevented by switching the flow direction periodically before scale forms on membrane surfaces so that it is swept away by an undersaturated feed solution. The frequency of flow switches is determined by the induction time, i.e. the time it takes for scale particles to accumulate. ROTEC's FRRO can be installed as a Greenfield or Brownfield (retrofit) device.
