Tomorrow Water (subsidiary of BKT)

Technology Offering

Proteus / BAF and Proteus Plus

What is it?

Proteus is a Biologically Active Filtration (BAF) technology platform. It can be configured to achieve single or multiple treatment objective(s) in one cell reactor and across the entire wastewater treatment train. The reactor consists of an internal water distribution system, a filter media, and a coarse bubble aeration grid. A key feature of the technology is its novel floating synthetic high surface area cross-shaped media made of expanded polypropylene (EPP), on which microorganisms attach and grow to form a biofilm. The enhanced Proteus Plus configuration includes a layer of aerated biofilm for high-rate biological treatment that does not require chemicals or redirection of biomass.
